On March 21-24 Sakhalin will be hosting the Chefs de Mission Seminar of OCA member countries.
Yuzhno Sakhalinsk is hosting representatives of OCA member countries who will be visiting sports venues, catering and accommodation facilities. Representatives of 21 states have confirmed their participation.
- Representatives will visit all sports venues including Gorniy Vozdukh Ski Resort. The athletes will be competing in these venues. It is important for chefs de mission to see and check all sports facilities including those ones that are still under construction. But I think they will be put into operation at the right moment – says Director General of the 1st Winter Children of Asia Games Administration Mr. Vladimir MAKSIMOV.
The sports program of the Games includes 8 sports: figure skating, hockey, short track, alpine sport, snowboarding, biathlon, cross country and ski jumping.
Besides the venues tour they delegates will be participating in the seminar on discussion of sports program and organizational issues of the Games. Among the delegates there are deputy ministries of sport, Vice-Presidents and General Secretaries of NOCs and officials responsible for children’s sports in Asia: Bhutan, East Timor, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, Nepal, Pakistan, Syria, Palestine, Tajikistan and others.
- More than 600 referees will be serving the Games. They all meet the requirements of international sports federations. 1000 volunteers will be assisting during the Games according to 16 functional spheres. In April we will organize a volunteering camp for team-leaders – says Mr. Vladimir MAKSIMOV.
On March 23 at 3 p.m. the Countdown of the 1st Winter Children of Asia International Sports Games will be unveiled in the central square in front of the regional government office.
