On June 12, Children of Asia Games graduates Ms. Lilia Akhaimova, Olympic champion in artistic gymnastics, and Mr. Merey Akshalov, World and Asian champion in boxing, conducted master classes in gymnastics and boxing for students of sports schools of Olympic reserve of the Republic of Kyrgyzstan.
The delegation of the Children of Asia International Committee is currently on a working visit to the Republic of Kyrgyzstan. The Committee implements projects for the development of youth sports in the Asian continent. As part of the visit, graduates of the Children of Asia Games held master classes for young athletes.
Ms. Liliya Akhaimova, Tokyo 2020 Olympic champion in artistic gymnastics, champion of the 4th Children of Asia International Sports Games in 2008:
“First of all, being professional athletes, we strive to educate children by sports, to develop their motivation. One of my main missions is to share experience with future generation. It will give them the opportunity to perform and get emotions, as well as to achieve results at major sporting events, as I felt first-hand participating at the Children of Asia Games when I was a child.
The united team of the Republic of Kyrgyzstan has been successfully participating in Children of Asia Games of every edition. Sports master classes contributes to exchange of experience between current athletes, champions and young athletes.
Mr. Merey Akshalov, a boxer, participant of the Beijing Olympic Games, world champion, Asian champion, Honored Master of Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan, participant of the 3rd Children of Asia International Sports Games:
“I visited Kuzbass during Winter Children of Asia Games. I was at the Opening Ceremony and since then we have always been in touch with the Children of Asia International Committee. The work of the Alumni Union has already begun. I was invited to Bishkek to hold a master class, to talk with young athletes, which is already a big step forward. The students asked a lot of questions, everything is interesting to them now. We are ready to show younger generation the basis of fair play, because Children of Asia Games is like the Olympic Games for children.”
Recall that the Children of Asia International Committee established the Union of Alumni of Children of Asia Games. The Alumni Union contributes to the development of project-based educational activities, the improvement of forms for increasing sports skills, and the consideration of socially significant projects in the field of supporting children's and youth sports.
