The Children of Asia International Committee board decided to admit the team of the Republic of Belarus to the 2nd Winter Children of Asia International Sports Games. The application of the National Olympic Committee of the Republic of Belarus was supported by the board members.
Negotiations on the prospects for the participation of the Belarusian Team in the Games were held on December 8 at the headquarters of the National Olympic Committee of the Republic of Belarus, as part of a working meeting between the President of the NOC Mr. Viktor Lukashenko and the President of the Children of Asia International Committee Mr. Vladimir Maksimov. Then the President of the NOC of the Republic of Belarus Mr. Viktor Lukashenko noted that in the current difficult time for Belarusian and Russian athletes, such participation will allow young athletes to improve their skills, gain the necessary competitive experience, as well as find new friends, get acquainted with the conditions in which their peers train. The Belarusian delegation can include up to 70 athletes in such sports as ice hockey, snowboarding, ski jumping, cross-country skiing, figure skating, speed skating and alpine skiing.
- This year the Summer Games were held under the patronage of the IOC. We are open to dialogue and welcome any interest in the development of children's sports. The leadership of the Committee adheres to a clear position that children should not suffer because of various kinds of political crises, said Mr. Vladimir Maksimov.
Recall that the 2nd Winter Children of Asia International Sports Games will be held in Kuzbass from February 23 to March 5, 2023.
