THE 3RD CHILDREN OF ASIA GAMES

THE 3RD CHILDREN OF ASIA GAMES

History

Exactly one month before the start of the Games, the flame of the Children of Asia International Sports Games was lit for the first time on Mount Kisilekh in the early morning of June 23, 2004. It was obtained by striking the flint with a crucifix. It is symbolic that the ceremony was held in the geographical center of our republic and one of the coldest points of the planet.

Another peculiarity of the Games was the fact that later on the winners and prize-winners of these very competitions produced the largest number of famous athletes compared to other Games.

The competition was attended by 1509 young athletes from 14 countries (Armenia, Vietnam, India, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, China, DPRK, Kyrgyzstan, Laos, Mongolia, Thailand, Turkey, Tajikistan, Japan) and 26 regions of the Russian Federation.

270 sets of medals were drawn in 17 sports: basketball, boxing, freestyle wrestling, volleyball, judo, track and field athletics, mas-wrestling, international a checkers, table tennis, powerlifting, artistic gymnastics, sports dancing, taekwondo, soccer, rhythmic gymnastics, chess, Yakut national jumps.

For the first time in the history of the Children of Asia Games, a taekwondo tournament was held. The best athletes from Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Mongolia and Russian regions fought for the medals of international competitions. Most of the prizes were won by taekwondists from the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), Kazakhstan, Kamchatka region and Sakhalin Krai.

"Equality of spirit - equality of power!" - This was the motto of the Children of Asia Games in 2004, the first time in the history of the Games.
