Human is an ideological being, he cannot live by bread alone, he needs impetuses and clear ideas. How can we direct our thoughts so that we do not wallow in the squabbles and bustle of today? I felt that now, during the crisis, we need to think about the future - our children. What kind of world will they live in? Will there be peace, fraternal coexistence? Will we find the courage to start building the future today? Overwhelmed by these thoughts that had been tormenting me for many years, I decided to fulfill my cherished dream and tried to make the future.

The birth of the Games

In the 90s of the ХХ century, the world community was going to celebrate the centenary of the modern Olympic movement. New ideas were needed for social development. After much deliberation, Mikhail Nikolaev gathered like-minded people and shared his idea of holding international games similar to the Olympics for children of the Asian continent. He believed that the ideas of Olympism were based on the most fundamental ideas of humanism and human nobility, and hoped that he would gain many supporters in this matter. He was not mistaken - he was supported both in the government of the republic and in the federal center.

On September 19, 1995, in the city of Yakutsk, Decree of the President of the Sakha Republic (Yakutia) №. 1170 “On holding the Children of Asia International Sports Games was signed. Less than a year later, in August 1996, Yakutia welcomed its first guests.

The Games unite children and the sports community from 45 member countries of the Olympic Council of Asia, regions of Russia, as well as countries belonging to the European Olympic Committee, but located in Asia. The goals of the Children of Asia International Sports Games are to popularize the Olympic movement among children and youth, promote a healthy lifestyle, strengthen international cooperation and friendship between children and youth from different countries.

History has shown the foresight of the First President of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia). The Games turned out to be a popular multi-sport event for training young athletes from Asia and became a springboard for them into the world of big sports.
