The torch relay of the 7th Children of Asia International Sports Games has reached the finish line.
The grandiose project, covering the entire Primorsky krai, is nearing completion. The delegation of fire keepers on Saturday, July 23rd, arrived in Ussuriysk city. Hundreds of residents and guests of the city joined the historic event, having met the main symbol of the upcoming Games.
It is a great honor for us to host the fire of the Children of Asia International Sports Games. Many Ussuri athletes show high achievements in sports, become world and Russian champions. This event contributes to the popularization of physical culture and sports. I am sure that thanks to it, our athletes will receive powerful motivation to achieve the highest sports results said Mr. Evgeny Korzh, head of the Ussuriysk city.
The first torchbearer was the champion of the Far East in kickboxing Mr. Shamil Vagabov. He passed the baton to titled and promising Ussuri athletes, famous coaches and public figures Mrs. Valeria Belousova, Mrs. Anastasia Braginets, Mrs. Veronika Vasilenko, Mrs. Yulia Velbik, Mr. Vladlen Ivanov, Mr. Kirill Kapustnik, Mr. Pavel Pustokhin, Mrs. Ekaterina Rabotkevich, Mr. Ekaterina Savranskaya, Mrs. Ulyana Sadovaya, Mr. Andrey Chekhlov, Mrs. Olga Shevchenko, Mr. Danila Shcherbenko, Mr. Mikhail Volkov and Mr. Pavel Ovcharenko. The world and European kickboxing champion Mr. Alexander Zakharov completed the historical race.
Mr. Vladlen Ivanov – the multiple winner of all-Russian and international competitions, prize-winner of the European Championship, coach of the karate Federation will be remember this day for a lifetime.
To carry the fire of international sports games in our native land is a responsible and patriotic thing. I am sure that this inspiring event will draw even more attention to the sport and its development – said the mentor.
Eighth-grader Mrs. Ekaterina Savranskaya, who will defend the honor of Ussuriysk and Primorsky krai at the Children of Asia Games as part of the regional athletics team, was no less memorable event.
For me, participating in such a large-scale and historic event is a very exciting and joyful at the same time. I understand that such a chance happens once in a lifetime and I am happy that it fell to me – the athlete shared.
The mass sports festival ended with the lighting of a symbolic bowl of fire and the solemn presentation of a torch to the head of Ussuriysk in memory of the historical event. Creative teams prepared a bright program warmly received by participants and spectators.
There are only three points left on the map of the relay race of fire games. On Saturday, July 23rd, the main symbol of the Games will visit the Nadezhdinsky district. On Sunday, July 24th, Artyom's torchbearers will carry the fire and hand it over to the head of the capital of Primorski krai.
The large-scale project will finish after a multi-day trip around the region at the solemn opening ceremony of the 7th Children of Asia International Sports Games on July 28th at the Fetisov Arena concert and sports complex.
