The Children of Asia International Committee held Climbing Olympus Educational Program in Yakutsk for the first time. Students of the Olympic Reserve Training College, sports schools and Sharin School No. 39 participated in the program.
Speakers from the Children of Asia Committee, RUSADA and the Association of Sports Psychologists conducted the Olympic, Anti-Doping and Sports Psychology Lessons.
“The program is aimed at educating children on the history of the Olympic movement, its true principles, the history of Children of Asia Games, anti-doping rules, sports psychology, that for some reasons are not explained to children during training. The program is focused at preparing children for big-time sports,” said Vladimir Maksimov, President of the Children of Asia International Committee.
Evgeny Khristenko, chief specialist of the Educational Programs Department of the Russian Anti-Doping Agency RUSADA, emphasized that, first of all, the “Clean Sport” module is aimed at protecting the life and career of an athlete.
“Certainly our educational program is a tool that helps an athlete to embark on the right track towards. We want young athletes to be educated, to know how to protect themselves and how to build their sports career without violating anti-doping rules.”
President of the Association of Sports Psychologists Lira Ulyaeva noted that psychological preparation from childhood plays a decisive role in the formation of an athlete.
“Sports psychology is one of the most important and necessary areas of development and education of athletes, especially when it comes to children. We teach athletes to manage their condition and behavior, to properly update their resources during training and competitions. The work of a sports psychologist is not the work of a “firefighter” or “ambulance”, but work on the principle of proactive delivery of tasks, aimed at developing vital skills and abilities: the ability to communicate, make friends, achieve goals, including sports ones. “Children of Asia” is the best project that creates opportunities for personal self-realization.”
To recall, Climbing Olympus Educational Program was presented at the 2nd Winter Children of Asia Games in Kuzbass, as well as in the Republic of Kyrgyzstan.
