A working meeting was held in Novosibirsk between Vladimir Maksimov, President of the Children of Asia International Committee, and Anatoly Seryshev, Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Russian Federation in the Siberian Federal District. Within the framework of the meeting, the parties discussed the preparation of the national team of the Siberian Federal District for the 8th Children of Asia Games.
The Siberian Federal District will be represented at the Games by a team of more than 220 people, 160 of whom are young athletes aged 13 to 16, from 9 federal subjects of the District: the Republic of Khakassia and Tyva, the Altai and Krasnoyarsk Territories, as well as the Irkutsk, Kemerovo, Novosibirsk, Omsk and Tomsk Regions.
The Plenipotentiary Representative highly appreciated the achievements and potential of the district team. "Our common task is to make every effort to ensure that young athletes go to the competition in excellent physical shape and with confidence in their abilities," said Anatoly Seryshev.
At the end of the meeting, Vladimir Maksimov shared information about the educational projects of the Children of Asia International Committee aimed at the development of children's sports in Asia. Some of them were implemented for the first time as part of 2nd Winter Children of Asia International Sports Games, which were held in Kuzbass in 2023. In the 2nd Winter Games, SFD athletes showed the highest result, winning 45 gold medals.
The 8th Children of Asia Games will be held from 25 June to 7 July in Yakutsk, where young athletes will play 239 sets of medals in 24 sports.
