On September 19, 1995, Mr. Mikhail Nikolaev signed a decree On holding the Children of Asia International Sports Games aiming at further enhancement and development of children's sports in the Sakha Republic (Yakutia), improvement the health of children and teenagers, strengthening international ties of the republic and in connection with the 100th anniversary of the modern Olympic Games.
A small republic became the host of a truly global event - the Continental Olympic Games for children. The Games shook up the world community, and most importantly, became the starting point for the breakthrough development of Yakutia itself, a change in the consciousness of the people, and an unshakable faith in the success of the common cause.
