These days Yakutsk hosted the national summer festival Tuimaada Ysyakh.
The grand opening of the Children of Asia International Committee's venue - tusyulge - took place on the territory of the sacred site «Us Khatyn» in Yakutsk, where the national summer festival Tuimaada Ysyakh is held on 29 and 30 June.
The main national festival of Sakha people, the Tuimaada Ysyakh, this year is dedicated to the Year of the Family in Russia, the Year of Childhood in Yakutia and the 8th Children of Asia Games.
«This is the first time when the Games coincide with the days of the Ysyakh festival, given that the headquarters of the International Committee is located in Yakutsk, such a decision was made: to organise the International Committee's tusyulge», said Vladimir Maximov, President of the Children of Asia International Committee.
He hoped that the guests would remember not only their visit to Yakutia and the Games, but also the national summer festival of Sakha people. During the opening ceremony of the tusyulge, a Yakut blessing ritual - algys - was held inside the yurt and the fire and earth were sprinkled with koumiss, a traditional drink.
The first Children of Asia Games were established and held in Yakutia in 1996 on the initiative of the republic's first president Mikhail Nikolaev. During its history, the competition has brought together more than 15,000 young athletes from Asian countries. The 8th Games will award 239 sets of medals in 24 sports.
