Vladimir Maksimov, President of the Children of Asia International Committee, met with Mahera Aljamal, Head of the delegation, Director General of the Palestinian Ministry of Youth and Sports. Also, the meeting was attended by Safaa Amro, Deputy Head of the Palestinian Delegation, Director of the Palestinian National Olympic Committee.
Vladimir Maksimov appreciated the honourable guests for the participation of the Palestinian national team in the 8th Children of Asia Games.
«We are very pleased that despite all the difficulties, challenges of the current times, a team of young athletes from Palestine was able to take part, making the long journey to Yakutsk from their home country. Our Committee supports the people of Palestine and the country during these hard times. Accordingly, we are honoured to give Palestinian children the opportunity to experience the celebration of sport and childhood on Yakut land», Vladimir Maksimov said.
Mahera Aljamal expressed her gratitude for the invitation to take part in such a grand competition and for the Committee's assistance in flying the sports delegation, noting that Palestine represented about 40 young athletes at the Children of Asia Games.
«This is the first time we are participating in such a big project. Our children are very happy to be part of this big celebration of sport. For most of them this is the first international experience of participating in sports events, some of them were able to leave their country for the first time. We are very pleased and grateful for the invitation to participate in these Games», the Palestinian delegation leader said.
The Palestinian team faced serious logistical barriers to participating in the 8th Children of Asia Games. Restrictions and distances made travelling particularly difficult and expensive. Under these circumstances, the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC), as one of the founding members of the Children of Asia International Committee, provided priceless support. In partnership with Aeroflot Russian Airlines, the ROC covered all expenses related to the delegation's flight, thus providing for the participation of Palestinian athletes in the competition.
