Vladimir Maximov, President of the Children of Asia International Committee, had a meeting with Aidyn Agha-Ali Oglu Mamedov, Head of the Sports Department in the Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
Thus, Vladimir Maksimov welcomed the honoured guest, mentioning the importance of participation of the Azerbaijani team in the 8th Children of Asia Games. He wished the young athletes to show great results.
«National teams of the Republic of Azerbaijan have been participating in the Children of Asia Games since the very beginning of the Games. The leadership of their state pays great attention to the development of children's and youth sports and does everything possible for the prosperity of the younger generation. I met with the Azerbaijan team, they are very tight-knit and passionate. I am sure that with their arrival in Yakutia their horizons will broaden, they will meet their peers and will be able to represent their homeland well», said Vladimir Maksimov.
Aidyn Agha-Ali Oglu Mamedov was grateful for the invitation to take part in the large-scale competitions and emphasized that this year Azerbaijan presented a record number of delegates - about 120 people.
«Our athletes are very delighted to participate in the Children of Asia Games. Yakutia, as they say, is not a foreign country to us. There are Turkic people here, our ancestors came from this land. That is why Yakutians are very dear to us. Thus, our Azerbaijan team has been participating in the Games since their establishment - since 1996. This is our 4th participation out of eight Games. This year we presented a record number of participants - about 120 people, including more than 80 athletes competing in 17 sports. We plan to present the same large team in the next Games», said Aidyn Agha-Ali Oglu Mamedov.
